Palm Sunday on the Lawn

On Palm Sunday, we mark Jesus’ procession into Jerusalem, as he journeys to the cross. The crowd one minute is greeting him with palms and loud hosannas, and the next cries, “crucify him!” Join us for this moving liturgy and service at 10:30.

Then after the service on the Front Lawn (weather permitting), we will enjoy fellowship together with great food and will give each family a take home stations of the cross with a brief devotional for each day of Holy Week. Pictured here are stations 1&2 (Jesus is condemned to death, and Jesus takes up his cross) This is a way for our church to engage with the power of the cross at home.

Each element is intentionally designed and handmade to echo elements of our Holy Week service, culminating in the Friday evening tenebrae, where the lights are all extinguished and we remember Christ entering the darkness of death as he is laid in the grave. When we engage in the cross more deeply, we can rejoice all the more in the great resurrection life that we celebrate on Easter Sunday!
